Rhythmic

A rhythmic poem should be measured,

If it is the words will be treasured,

As you weave through each stanza,

A linguistic bonanza,

I hope you will read this for pleasure.

Rhythmic

Happy New Year!!!!

And so it’s here, the night of nights,

Our friends are so festive and hope knows no heights.

But as the clock strikes twelve, tick tock is the tune,

After a long night of revelry you’ll probably sleep until noon.

But when you wake up and your head feels like lead,

Just give it a rest and go back to bed.

But sooner or later the day has to start,

The routine is clear, you know it by heart.

So what did you  learn, with your head kind of hazy,

That drinking too much is just too damn crazy?

So the new year has started and you have much to resolve,

People to see and problems to solve.

So take the day slow you have a whole year ahead,

To shake off the cobwebs and get out of bed!

Frankenhand and the Frozen Pizza

I walked to the freezer with a pizza in mind,

Ripped from its box, a mighty nice find.

I opened the oven, the pie on a tray,

Twenty  short minutes, I’d then have my say.

So I sat and I waited, and as the pizza was cooking,

Two pot holders I searched for, all the time looking.

As the clock winded down and it smelled almost done,

I was in a pot holder dilemma, I could only find one!

So I opened the door, and as I reached in with my right,

The pan started slipping and I got a big fright.

The pizza was loose, the pizza was falling,

It couldn’t be wasted, my stomach was calling.

So the brave soul I am, not caring about pain,

I reached out with my left, completely insane.

My fingers touched heat and they started to swell,

I don’t know what happened and I just had to yell.

Expletives here and expletives there,

I threw them around without any care.

But the pain was so great, and I wanted no glory,

Just a pizza to eat and a hell of a story.

Feel better Barb!!!!

It’s that time of year…again

It’s that holiday time of year again,

When we pledge our lives and ask where humanity has been.

But what we see throughout the year,

Is hate and rancor and lots of fear.

But what I don’t get and will never see,

Is why we put up with this hypocrisy.

If you can be nice during this fine holiday season,

Then the rest of the year should stand without reason.

So if people are telling you that you’re always a jerk,

It’s your rotten disposition that might need some work!

Happy Holidays!!!!

Thanksgiving Day

The stuffings been eaten, the turkey is done.

Many relative abound, I hope it was fun.

Some you may like, and some you endure,

Were potatoes and cranberries the ultimate cure?

As the day slowly dwindles and everyone has gone,

The thought once existed they would be there till dawn.

But leave you they must, to return to their houses,

Packed into cars with children and spouses.

So nightfall is here, just you and your clan,

A nice quiet evening, oh yes I’m a fan,

But as I lay on the couch and drift off to sleep,

It’s memories like these, I’m certain to keep.

So cherish your family, your pets and your life,

It’s been a day to enjoy, one without strife.

But a question I have, if I can have my own say,

Is why can’t we get along, more than just on Thanksgiving day?

The Horror…

img_1270

Thanksgiving is here, in less than a week,

The leaves have all fallen, all past their peak,

With visions of turkey, football and rest,

And a good nights rest I thought would be best.

So I went to bed and the sky was clear,

The threat of snow? There was no fear.

So when I awoke in the morning and rubbed the sleep from my eyes,

I looked out the door and got a surprise,

It was during the night and while I was sleeping,

That snow had fallen, was I still dreaming?

But it wasn’t a dream, it all was to true,

Snow was now here, I hadn’t a clue.

So why do I worry? Why do I fret?

I’m not really ready, to see the white yet.

Where Did Fall Go?

It’s the second of November and it doesn’t feel like fall,

An  unlikely wind is upon us, failing to heed the call,

And now the day is over and as nice as it has been,

I like it much, much cooler, to keep me in my zen.

Now some of you that are out there, may enjoy a warmer day,

To get outside while you can to walk and run and play,

But days like this, my dear old friends, I really couldn’t care,

Because I’m the kind of dude, who likes the chilly air.

Winter Awaits Us

The woods are brown and the trees they are bare,

Seductive and mysterious, a chill in the air.

The feel of the earth, so crunchy and soft,

I walk them alone, the cool morning frost.

Anticipation awaits us, change we will see,

An eventual white blanket, will coat every tree.

It’s as old as the ages, as sure as the sun,

The coming of winter, another season is done.

Trick or Treat

Witches and goblins

A fine trick or treat,

Begging for candy

For something so sweet,

They’ll knock at your door and threaten your house

Unless it’s candy you give, you wretched old louse!

A Life Transformed

The trees of fall they bend and sway,

All in the promise of a crisp clear day,

But the cold nights come with hopes anew,

With blades of grass now soaked in dew.

The leaves have fallen, the sky now clear,

All beauty in time, my heart holds dear,

But we all stand alone when our fears do take hold,

The change of the seasons, a story is told.

So as time marches on with loss keenly felt,

Our hearts still in place, the cards have been dealt.

After winters fine wrath has wiped the slate clean,

A brand new beginning can start to be seen.
