Jase Enjoying the Day

“The more people I meet, the more I like my labrador.”

-Unknown

“We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. In return, dogs give us their all. It’s the best deal man has ever made.”

– M. Ackklam

“The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.”

A Warm Sunrise

“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.”

-John Muir
I took these pictures on my walk in from the parking lot today at work. Another beautifully warm day for the month of February.

Transition to Spring

wp_20161231_007

Cold winter nights, fresh snow softly falling,

Thoughts of warmer days with a pack on my back,

Moving silently through the woods, boots kicking up dirt.

Newly released from winters grasp,  each step a promise,

A promise of longer days and peaceful nights that bring

The mesmerizing rush of spring streams and the crack of dead

Winter limbs. As the woods open their arms and embrace each soul

As its own, we long for the simple touch of springs sweet caress.

Hiking The A.T.

I seek fellowship

On the white blazes of life.

Quiet steps blurred

By the shadows of hikers

Marching on the open path,

Seeking answers to

Everything, finding inner

Peace on the worn earth,

Each step a reminder of

A fomer life left behind

Waiting For Another Hockey Game

I have been coming to Trinity Pawling to watch  my children play hockey for eight years now. Waiting for my daughters game to start, I had a little extra time today and since it was a sunny 60 degrees (very odd for mid February!), I decided to walk around and take some pictures. I certainly hope that you enjoy them.

An Old Church in Simsbury, CT

An old church in Simsbury, CT. The origins of this church go back to 1697! In my mind I can see it in the middle of nowhere but instead it is surrounded by modern technology. Power lines, traffic lights and of course cars surround this beautiful building.

“We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.”

-Winston Churchill

Another Sunrise

As you know, I love a good sunrise! So even though I have posted sunrises before, I couldn’t resist taking these pictures this morning on my way to pick up some bagels for breakfast. Of course I left my camera at home so I had to take these with my cell phone.

“Rest but never quit. Even the sun has a sinking spell each evening. But it always rises the next morning. At sunrise, every soul is born again.”

-Muhammad Ali

“We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise last but a few minutes. But its beauty can burn in our hearts eternally.”

Blue Skies

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.”

-Elenora Duse
“I never get tired of the blue sky.”
-Vincent Van Gogh

Don’t ask me why, but I love the way that bare trees look against the backdrop of a clear blue sky.
