An Old Church in Simsbury, CT

An old church in Simsbury, CT. The origins of this church go back to 1697! In my mind I can see it in the middle of nowhere but instead it is surrounded by modern technology. Power lines, traffic lights and of course cars surround this beautiful building.

I have always loved history and in this country, to have a building that old blows our minds. But in Europe, they have buildings that are many centuries older than ours. I always wonder what tourists think when visiting NY and New England. Doing my genealogy has given me such a personal view of churches and village greens. Like you, I close my eyes and imagine them standing tall on the village green. I love living in our time period, but can’t help but think that we’ve lost something with our cars and electric poles and fast food places surrounding these historic sights.
