Place In The World (WPC)

“The trick in life is to find out where you belong. Once you find out where you belong, you will be happy there.”

-Frederick Lenz

“When you know and respect your Inner Nature, you know where you belong. You also know where you don’t belong.”

-Benjamin Hoff

This is my place in the world. A place where I want to be. A place where I need to be.

Place in the World

Impress who? Not you!

“When you come to the point where you have no need to impress anybody, your freedom will begin.”

-Unknown

We all find quotes that ring true for us at one point or another in our lives. Ones that make us think and feel, ones that motivate us to make changes and as a result give us the ability to take that quote as our own. I have reached a point where the want or the need to impress anyone, especially as it relates to the colleagues at my job, is in the past.

Since I am a teacher, I only need to keep the well being of my students in mind. My job requires me to make sure that each of my students receive 100% of my focus, attention and experience every day.

Impress who? Not you!

Horn Hill On A Thursday (15)

“Don’t ruin a good day by thinking about a bad day yesterday, Let it go.”

-Anonymous

“Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.”

-Hans Selye

Despite a late short hike last Wednesday, I decided to head out early the very next morning (7/27) to get some hiking in. As with some of the other hikes that I enjoy, I went back to the Horn Hill Bike Path, which is located just off of the Anthony Wayne Parking Area.  It was a nice cool morning with low humidity so that made the hike a really pleasant one.

“Open the window of your mind. Allow the fresh air, new lights and new truths to enter.” – Amit Ray

“A few simple tips for life: feet on the ground, head to the skies, heart open…quiet mind.” – Rasheed Ogunlaru

Yesterday, 5/20/17, I was able to experience a beautiful 6.2 mile hike around a section of Fahnestock state park. After several days with temperatures in the high 80’s with matching humidity, today proved to be much cooler. As I parked my jeep, I noticed a couple of raindrops on my windshield. Since I hadn’t heard about any rain, I checked my cell and it confirmed what I had thought, no rain for at least 120 minutes.

Of course within 15 minutes later it started to rain and didn’t stop for well over an hour.

With that said, it was nice to hear the rain falling through the woods and it promoted a nice sense of isolation.

In about one and half hours, you will be hiking along the far side of this lake.

You get to hike next to this stream for about 1/2 mile.

This is a good place to take a break, drink some water and listen to the stream. (right after this you will climb a pretty steep hill so rest up!!!)

Another Sunrise

As you know, I love a good sunrise! So even though I have posted sunrises before, I couldn’t resist taking these pictures this morning on my way to pick up some bagels for breakfast. Of course I left my camera at home so I had to take these with my cell phone.

“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.”

-John Muir

“Rest but never quit. Even the sun has a sinking spell each evening. But it always rises the next morning. At sunrise, every soul is born again.”

-Muhammad Ali

Hockey on Super Bowl Sunday

“If you don’t love what you do, you won’t do it with much conviction or passion.”

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”

~ Gail Devers

Even though it is Super Bowl Sunday, my daughter still had a hockey game. Luckily it was scheduled early enough so she could play her game, be home in time to watch the Rangers and then the Super Bowl. Here are a few pictures from todays game. Oh yeah…they won 3-1!!
