Of animals, rabbit, dog
And cat, each vying
For your attention and love,
Never a quarrel or spat

In the path
Of those in my

Up memories, the miles

Soft flowing water

Chasing a dream,
Her hands on the reins,
Melting pink melancholy the backdrop to hope,
Liquid yellow and orange sunshine warm the heart,
Seeking the truth, the answer, to love, lost and imagined
The dream, and love, both out of reach as fog clouds each

The inspiration for this tanka came from a painting done by a friend at work. It hangs on her office wall and when I saw it today I knew that I had to write something! I love the painting! It tells so many stories.
Passing through the clouds
The second hand stops, frozen
Lamenting loves lost
Mans best friend takes heed,
