This photo rounds out my top three photos of the year. Taken at my parents house, I love the colors in this picture, especially how you don’t see a direct cut off, instead the darker colors fade into the lighter.

My second favorite photo of the year was taken after a late afternoon hike in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. It was getting dark very quickly and the temperature was somewhere in the mid 40’s. Even though it was a short hike, it was a good one.

This is my favorite photo of 2017. I decided that after I dropped my daughter off at hockey practice that I would go to the Appalachian Railroad station to take some pictures. I actually sat down on the tracks facing north and took this shot.

For the first time in recent memory (my recent memory, of course), we actually woke up to snow falling on Christmas!

A fresh coat of white to start the day.

These photos were taken today at the Trinity Pawling school in Pawling, New York. The ice rink at the school acts as the home rink for my daughters u16/19 travel hockey team. Today was overcast with a temperature in the mid to upper 20’s, which in my opinion, makes for excellent B & W photos.

A tree just outside the ice rink.

The view looking across the football field.

This light reminds of an old gas lamp.

One of the lights inside the ice rink.
Alone in a parking lot. Too early for the mass of humanity that, in a few hours, will fill the lot in a frenzy of holiday acquisitions.

After a couple of inches of snow last night we headed out for a pretty early run to The Home Depot. It seems that the sunrise after a snowy evening is much more brilliant than every other day.

Alone, waitng for the next train.

Many of my favorite photos are ones that I take when I am hiking. This photo, is just another example of another steep climb during a hike in Harriman State Park in New York. It ascends several hundred feet in just under a half of a mile. Once again, here is a nice reminder of an early morning summer hike on a snowy day here in New York.
