Lazy Day
Snow is falling
White flakes accumulate
Like quiet memories lost in
A sugar coated fantasy
Waiting for warmth and time
To erase them
Lazy day

Lazy Day
Snow is falling
White flakes accumulate
Like quiet memories lost in
A sugar coated fantasy
Waiting for warmth and time
To erase them
Lazy day

All alone they hang
Harboring fond memories
Of summers warm hand

Sunset
Red streaks stain an
Icy canvas, orange
Hues slide slowly between the trees,
Frosty limbs masking the death of
Each weary day, waiting
For destinies
New dawn

Canada geese fleeing the scene the day before a storm.
Escape
The coming storm,
Wings beating a hasty
Retreat, winters wrath the next stop?
A pledge made, subliminal path
Helping the flock to flee
Avoiding strife
Relief
Cold winds and grey skies,
Promised chaos,
The throes and woes of winter,
Today, the calm before the storm.
Still, the black lab walks the frozen earth,
Nose raised in anticipation,
Seeking confirmation,
Sensing transformation,
Sacrificing everything.
Softly each flake falls,
Hexagonal perfection
Transcendent splendor
A crisp, beautiful early December sunset in Mahopac, NY.
“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
-Rabindranath Tagore
“There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.”
― Jo Walton

Quiet calm sweeps over the woods as
Peaceful fluffy flakes softly fall.
Wrapped in a cloak of winter,
Each inhabitant surveys the new landscape,
As an unspoiled white blanket awaits.
Thick clouds rolling in
Winters tale will soon be told
Falling softly now
Children smile, hoping, seeking
The fallacy of lost time
Barren
Winter bones breathe,
Come to life, no longer
Dormant, announcing rebirth with
Bucolic certainty, awash
In a remote splendor
As it sits, calm
Alive
