“All our wisdom is stored in the trees.”

“Trees there were, old as trees can be, huge and grasping with hearts black as sin. Strange trees that some said walked in the night.”

If you have read some of my more recent posts, you know how much I love photographing trees this time of year. The lack of leaves gives them an eerie quality that suggests a sense of power that I don’t see or feel any other time of the year.
This morning when I was at the Appalachian Trail Rail Station (see post from this morning) I saw some pretty cool looking trees. Being totally devoid of leaves, I couldn’t resist taking a couple of photographs.
Is there anyone out there that loves “naked trees”?
Yes, I do! I love, love, love the naked trees. The forest/woods transform into a whole other world, when the leaves, leave. The ‘landmarks’ become ‘different’. The lay of the land seems to change. Secret nests are revealed too.

Fun post…. thank you and keep on enjoying! I appreciate you sharing….. 😀

Your comment is so true. For the last few weeks every time that I go out I see something that you would never see during the summer because the trees are full. It is a totally different world!

It IS a totally different world! You are so right! Why can’t everyone see and appreciate this? It is free and it is healthy. Thank you for experiencing and sharing it…. 😀

I find they reveal so much of their character when they lose their leaves. You can see who they are beneath their fancy coverings. I fell in love with the cypress trees of South Florida when I was young. Their “character” is always on display, but their needles are lost during the winter. They were my gauge for the sprouting of spring. Lovely captures.
